Logging Into Voice Mail

To play new messages, you can set your Voice Mail options to Normal or Automatic Playback. By default, your voice mail is set to Normal. In this mode, after you log into your account, the system gives you a list of options. To listen to new messages you must select the appropriate option. After each message the system gives you another list of options. These options enable you to tell the system what to do with each message (i.e., save, delete, etc.). If you activate Nextel’s Automatic Playback feature, however, the system will automatically play and save new messages (see “Automatic Playback” on page 36).

your Nextel i 500plus phone, dial your ten- digit Nextel i 500plus phone number.

When you hear Nextel’s Welcome greeting, press * to access your voice mail account, then skip to step 6 below.

2Pressounder “Mail” to open the Mail screen.

3Voice Mail should be highlighted to indicate

that it is selected. If it isn’t selected, press 1 to select it. An asterisk indicates new messages.

4Pressounder “OK.” The Voice Mail

screen appears.

Notice, the screen displays the number of new messages and the total number of

messages in the system—including saved Exit Dial and those in preparation (see “Voice Mail

Features: Advanced” on page 37 for

information on “in preparation” messages). An exclamation point (!) indicates an urgent message.

5Pressounder “Dial” to log into Nextel’s Voice Mail System. Phone-In Use displays as you are connected to the network.

6When prompted, enter your password.
