FS3SP CONCRETE SAW — BASIC ENGINE COMPONENTS

Figure 6. Engine Controls and Components

INITIAL SERVICING

The engine (Figure 6) must be checked for proper lubrication and filled with fuel prior to operation. Refer to the manufacturers Engine manual for instructions & details of operation and servicing.

1.Air Filter – A dirty air filter will restrict airflow to the carburetor, reducing engine performance. When the engine is operated in very dusty conditions, clean the air filter more often than specified in the Maintenance Schedule.

NOTE

Operating the engine without an air filter, with a damaged air filter, or a filter in need of replacement will allow dirt to enter the engine, causing rapid engine wear.

WARNING

Adding fuel to the tank should be accomplished only when the engine is stopped and has had an opportunity to cool down. In the event of a fuel

spill, DO NOT attempt to start the engine until the fuel residue has been completely wiped up, and the area surrounding the engine is dry.

3. Oil Filler Cap Check the engine oil level with the engine stopped and in a level position. Oil is a major factor affecting engine performance and service life. Use 4-stroke automotive detergent oil.

SAE 10W-30is recommended for general use. Refer to manufacturers Engine Manual for further data regarding other viscositiies/temperature limits.

To Change/Clean Air Filter

ENGINE OIL REFILL CAPABILITIES:

Remove Air Filter Wing Nut and pull the Air Filter Element out of the filter housing

Replace, or clean by using low pressure compressed (30 psi MAX) from inside out.

Without Oil Filter Replacement:

1.27qt. (1.20 L)

With Oil Filter Replacement:

1.59qt. (1.20 L)

2. Fuel Filler Cap – Remove this cap to add unleaded gasoline (86 Octane rating or higher) to the fuel tank. Make sure cap is tightened securely. The engine fuel tank holds

approximately 2 gallons of gasoline. DO NOT over fill.

NOTICE

Running the engine with a low oil level can cause engine damage. The oil alert system will automatically stop the engine before the oil level falls below safe limits; however, it is advisable to always check the engine oil level before startup.
