Introduction

DSL Modem Internet Gateway DG814

Thank you for purchasing a NETGEAR DG814 DSL Modem Internet Gateway. With this gateway you can have secure Internet access through its high-speed ADSL modem and share this modem with several computers.

This installation guide shows you how to connect the gateway and configure it and your computers for secure Internet access. Setup is easy—follow the instructions in this guide and your system will be up and running quickly.

With Auto Uplink™ on each network port, you don’t have to worry about which type of Ethernet cable you use when you connect your computers, servers, or other network devices to the gateway. Each network port automatically configures itself correctly when you plug in the cable.

If you have problems, there is a troubleshooting section on pages 11 and 12 to help you. You can get more detailed troubleshooting information from the Reference Manual on the CD, online at www.NETGEAR.com, or by phone. There’s a short glossary available on page 13 if you have questions about terminology and a more extensive glossary in the Reference Manual.
