Mode Shooting a Choosing—Photographs Taking

Choosing a Shooting Mode

Single Frame, Continuous, Self-Timer, or Remote Control

Shooting mode determines how the camera takes photographs: one at a time, in a continuous sequence, with a timed shutter-release delay, or using

a remote control.

Description

Camera takes one photograph each time shutter release button is

Single

pressed. Access lamp will light while photo is recorded; next shot can

frame

be taken immediately if enough space remains in memory buffer.

Camera records photographs at up to about three frames per second*

Continuous

while shutter-release button is held down.

Use self-timer for self-portraits or to reduce blurring caused by camera

Shutter release controlled using optional ML-L3 remote. Camera

Delayed

focuses when shutter-release button on ML-L3 is pressed; shutter is

released after 2 s delay (

107). Gives operator time to pose when

taking self-portrait using remote control.

ter-release button on ML-L3 is pressed, camera releases shutter imme-

response

diately after focusing (

remote

used to reduce blurring caused by camera shake.

*Average frame rate in mode M with manual focus, shutter speed of ½50 s or faster, noise reduction off, and memory remaining in memory buffer. Number of pictures that can be stored in buffer depends on options selected for image quality and size (see table at right). Additional photographs can be taken as soon as enough memory is available in buffer.

Note that all pictures taken in continuous mode are recorded at the orientation for the first picture in each series, even if the camera orientation is changed dur- ing shooting. For example, if the first picture is taken with the camera in horizontal orientation, all pictures in the series will be recorded in “wide” (landscape) orientation, even if the camera is rotated to vertical orientation during shooting.
