A brief warm-up period may be required for the unit’s display screen to achieve its full intensity, if the unit’s power has been off and its display screen is “cold.”

Advisory message

After the OWNER’S MESSAGE screen, the special advisory message is dis- played as a precautionary reminder that the unit’s chart cartography must not be relied upon as the sole means of safe navigation. Although every effort has been made to ensure that the data used by the unit is as close to paper charts as possible, errors and omissions are inevitable. Therefore, extreme care must be used when navigating by means of electronic charts. It is the captain’s responsibility to cross-check the 961 against other sources of navigation data. To proceed, accept the advisory message by pressing any key.
