Interchangeable lenses

Choose a lens according to the scene and your creative intent. Use lenses designed exclusively for the Micro Four Thirds System, which bear the symbol shown at right. With an adapter, you can also use Four Thirds System and OM System lenses.

M.ZUIKO DIGITAL interchangeable lenses

This is an interchangeable lens specifically for use with the “Micro Four Thirds system” which is a smaller, thinner version of the “Four Thirds system”.

Micro Four Thirds System lenses

Cameras designed for the Micro Four Thirds System do away with the bulky mirror box and viewfinder found in ordinary single-lens reflex cameras, resulting in a camera body that is substantially more compact. Similarly, lens design is matched to the camera for a compact, light-weight photo system. One characteristic of Micro Four Thirds System lenses is that they can achieve magnifications equivalent to double those produced by 35 mm format cameras with lenses of the same focal length, producing high-power lenses that are light and compact. For example, a Micro Four Thirds System lens with a focal length of 14–42 mm is equivalent to a

35 mm format lens with a focal length of 28–84 mm. The aperture of a Micro Four Thirds System lens can also be made smaller than that of a 35 mm format lens, making it possible to achieve a lens with the same brightness (f-number) in a smaller package. The brighter the lens, the faster the shutter speeds that can be achieved under low-light conditions.

#Caution

When you attach or remove the body cap and lens from the camera, keep the lens mount on the camera pointed downward. This helps prevent dust and other foreign matter from getting inside the camera.

Do not remove the body cap or attach the lens in dusty places.

Do not point the lens attached to the camera toward the sun. This may cause the camera to malfunction or even ignite due to the magnifying effect of sunlight focusing through the lens.

Be careful not to lose the body cap and rear cap.
