Beaming informationYour organizer is equipped with an IR (infrared) port that you can use
to beam information to another Palm Computing platform handheld
that’s close by and also has an IR p ort. The IR port is l ocat ed at t he to p
of the organizer, behind the small dark shield.
You can beam the following information betwee n Palm Computing
platform handhelds:
■The record currently displayed in Date Book, Address Book, T o Do
List, or Memo Pad
■All records of the category currently displayed in Address Book,
To Do List, or Mem o Pad
■A special Address Book record that y ou desi gnate as your bu siness
card, containing information you want to exchange with business
contacts
■An application installed in RAM memor y
Note: You can also perform HotSync operations using the IR port.
See “IR HotSync operations” in Chapter 6 for more details.
To select a business card:
1. Create an Address Book record that contains the information you
want on your business card.
2. Tap the Menu icon .
3. Tap Record, and then tap Select Busi ness Card.
4. Tap Yes.
To beam a record, business c ard, or category of records:
1. Locate the record, bu s in e s s car d , or ca te g ory you want to beam.
2. Tap the Menu icon .
3. Tap Record, and then tap one of the following:
The Beam command for an individual record
In Address Book on ly: Beam Business C ard
Beam Category
4. When the Beam Status dialog box appears, point the IR port
directly at the IR po rt of the receiving o rganizer.
