Inserting a PC Card

1Simply slide the PC Card right-side-up until it snaps into place.
Refer to the operating instructions of each card on how to insert the card.
After the card is inserted, bend the eject button (A).
CAUTION
zWhen using a PC Card to connect a peripheral device (SCSI, IEEE 1394, etc.), install
following procedure below (one example).
AConnect the peripheral device to the card.
BTurn the device on.
CSlide the card in until it snaps into place.
zWhen inserting a card, do not force the card in if difficulty is encountered. Depending
on the shape of the card, a segment may remain protruding from the slot after
insertion. Do not try to force the card all the way in. You may damage the slot,
making it impossible to remove the card.

Removing a PC Card

CAUTION
zDo not remove a PC Card while your computer is in the standby or hibernation mode.
zNote that the operation of removing the PC Card may not be complete, depending on
the status of the PC Card or device connected to the PC Card, such as when a SCSI
card is used to connect an external hard disk to the computer. In such cases, turn off
the power from [start] menu, then remove the card.
1Disable the card function.
ASelect on the taskbar, select the PC Card, then select [Stop].
