SD Memory Card/MultiMedia Card
Both the SD memory card and the MultiMedia card can be used in this computer.

SD Memory Card

The SD memory card may be used in ways such as the following.
zStoring files, etc.
zUse to exchange data with devices equipped with an SD memory card slot.
zWrite music data (checkout) to the card and listen to the music.
The SD memory card has a copyright protection function which is compatible with
content on-demand services on the Internet, etc.
zUse instead of entering a password. (Îpage 54)
You can insert an SD memory card instead of entering a password to start your computer
or log on to Windows.

Formats for SD memory cards

zAlthough your SD memory card has been formatted prior to purchase, when you re-
format, use SD memory card format software. (Do not use [Format] of Windows.)

zWhen using the SD memory card with other peripheral devices, format the SD memory
card using the peripheral device. For details, refer to the instruction manual for that
device.

Data transfer rate

zThe transfer rate using the SD memory card slot on this computer is 2MB*1 per second.
The transfer rate is 2MB*1 per second even if you use an SD memory card that supports
high-speed transfer rates.
*1 This is a theoretical value, and differs from actual speeds.

Important handling and storage information

zAlways store the SD memory card in its case after removing it from a computer.
zDo not:
Take the SD memory card apart or try to modify it
Hit, bend, or drop the card, or allow it to get wet
Touch the metal terminals with your hands or with metal
