	Preparation

•Turn on the television and select the appropriate video input to suit the connections to this unit.

•Turn on this unit.

•It is not possible to play continuously from one side of a double sided disc to the other. You will need to eject the disc and turn it over.

•When using 8 cm DVD-RAM or 8 cm DVD-R, remove the disc from the cartridge.

•For a DVD-RAM with a cartridge

With the write-protect tab in the protect position, play automatically starts when inserted in the unit.

•Depending on the disc, it may take time for the menu screen, pictures, sound etc. to start.

1 Press [; OPEN/CLOSE] on the main unit to open the tray and insert a disc.

•Press the button again to close the tray. Insert label-up.

Insert with the arrow facing in.

Insert fully so it clicks into place.

2 Press [q] (PLAY).

RAM -R -RW(V) +R -RW(VR)

PLAY

Play starts from the most recently recorded title.

DVD-V DVD-A CD VCD

RQT8212 Play starts from the beginning of the disc.

■ Selecting recorded programmes (titles) to play

Press [e, r, w, q] to select “Previous” or “Next” and press [ENTER].

•You can also press [u, i] to show other pages.

To exit the screen

Press [DIRECT NAVIGATOR].

Title protected.

Title that was not recorded due to recording protection (Digital broadcasts etc.)

	Title cannot be played because data is damaged.
	Title with “One time only recording” restriction
	Title recorded using a different encoding system from
(NTSC)
(PAL)	that of the TV system currently selected on the unit.

■When a menu screen appears on the television

Press [e, r, w, q] to select the item and press [ENTER].

Some items can also be selected using the numbered buttons.

VCD

Press the numbered buttons to select the item.

e.g., 5: [0] ➔ [5] 15: [1] ➔ [5]

•To return to the menu screen

Press [TOP MENU] or [SUB MENU].

Press [TOP MENU].

Press [RETURN].

Changing audio during play

Press [AUDIO].

You can change the audio channel number each time you press the button. This allows you to change things like the soundtrack language.
