When listening through the speakers

When the AC adaptor is used as the power source it is possible to change settings as follows:

Note

You cannot change sound quality during intro- scan or if “MEMO” is displayed while stopped.

Listening in the group mode

Discs that have been given a group setting (the tracks on the disc have been arranged into a number of groups) allow the listener to select a group and enjoy continuous play of all the songs in that group.

First set the groups. (See page 91.)

Remote control only

1.Press and hold [PLAY MODE] while stopped to select “GROUP ON” (group mode).

(“GRPON” on the remote control’s display)

The group mode and disc mode changes

each time the button is pressed.

Press and hold [:, 9] to select the group you want to listen (group skip).

If you continue to press the button the group changes successively.

3.Main unit

Press [1/;] to start play.

Remote control

Press [1/] to start play.

Play will continue to the last song of the selected group and stop.

Note

The first song of each group will be indicated by the track number “1”.

If “INTRO” or “MEMO” are displayed [refer to intro-scan memory playback (see page 87)] on the remote control while play is stopped, group mode cannot be used.

For discs not assigned a group setting “NO GROUP” (on the remote control “NO GRP”) will be displayed.

To skip in the group

Press [:, 9] during play.

To search in the group

Press and hold [:, 9] during play.

To listen from a selected track in the group

1Press [:, 9] while stopped.

Forward : [9] Backward : [:]

2Press [1/;] (main unit) or [1/] (remote

control) to start the play.

Play starts from the selected track and plays through to the final track in the group.

Repeat and Random play

Main unit

Press [MODE] when the unit is stopped or playing.

Remote control

Press [PLAY MODE] when the unit is stopped or playing.

The mode changes each time the button is

pressed.

Note

“INTRO” and “MEMO” are only displayed while stopped in the disc mode.

When using all tracks repeat, you may skip, fast forward or rewind from the first song on the disc (or on the group) to the last (and vice versa) even during playback.

During random play, it is not possible to skip or rewind to a track that has already been played.

When changing discs or changing group mode (see left), please reset settings.

Adjusting the display’s contrast

When the unit is powered on:

1 Put the main unit in hold (See the illustration on the page 16 of the Japanese text.) .

2By pressing j or i the contrast will change gradually. Setting can be made in the range as follows.

2Main unit: 0 (light) to 29 (dark)

2Remote control: 0 (light) to 15 (dark)

To light the display of the remote control

The display lights for about 5 seconds when an operation is done on the remote control. It remains lit for up to 20 seconds while a track or disc title is scrolling on the screen.

Checking the display of the remote control

Press [$LIGHT/%DISP].

The display lights for 5 seconds.

The operation tone of the remote control

A tone sounds when a button on the remote control is pressed.

The tone can be turned on and off.

When the unit is powered on:

” indicates group names. “ ”indicates disc names.

“NO TITLE” (“ ” on the remote control) appears when a track, group, or disc has no title.

The display changes each time this is done to show the track title, the disc title, playing time of all tracks, total numbers of tracks, elapsed playing time and the track number.

Group mode

The display changes each time this is done to show the track title, the group title, overall group playing time, overall number of tracks in group, group track number and elapsed playing time.
