Taking Still Pictures

The standard procedure for taking still pictures is described below. The flash discharges automatically depending on the light conditions.

1 Press the power switch.

The camera turns on and is ready to take still pictures. In this manual, this is called the capture mode.

2 Compose the picture on the display.

The camera will automatically focus on the area within the focus frame. You can change the captured area by pressing the Zoom button.

x: enlarges the subject

w : widens the area captured by the camera

3 Press the shutter release button halfway.

The color of the focus frame indicates whether the camera focuses clearly on the subject or not. Green : The subject is in focus.

White : The subject is out of focus.

Hold the shutter release button and wait until the focus frame turns green.

Focus frame

When the [Focusing Area] is set to W(Automatic Tracking AF) on the [A Rec. Mode] menu (p.78), the focus frame turns green if the subject is in focus, and the focus frame remains white even if the subject is out of focus.
