Selecting the Focus Mode

Select a focus mode according to the distance between the camera and the subject.

Focus Mode

 

 

Select this mode when your subject is more than

=

Standard

approx. 50 cm (1.56 ft) away from the camera. When you

press the shutter release button halfway, the camera

 

 

automatically focuses on the subject within the focus frame.

 

 

Select this mode when your subject is located approx. 10 cm

q

Macro

to 60 cm (0.31 ft to 1.87 ft) away from the camera. When you

press the shutter release button halfway, the camera

 

 

automatically focuses on the subject within the focus frame.

Infinity

This mode is used for taking distant objects. The flash is set

to a (Flash Off).

 

 

The pictures are taken as deep-focus (pan focus) shots. It is

Pan Focus

useful when you ask someone to take pictures for you, or

 

 

take pictures from the window of a moving car or a train.

1 Press the four-way controller (5) in the capture mode.

The focus mode changes each time the button is pressed. You can also change the setting using the four-way controller (23).

2 Press the 4button.

The Focus Mode setting is saved and the camera returns to capture status.

When you select =or q in d(Movie), adjust the focus before recording. Once the recording starts, you cannot adjust the focus.
