Basic Operations

Turningthe unit on and

selecting a source

Youcan select a source you want to listen to.
Toswitch to the built-in CD player, load a disc
inthe unit (refer to the next page).
%PressSOURCE to select a source.
PressSOURCE repeatedly to switch between
thefollowing sources:
Built-inCD playerTuner
Whenyou select a source, the unit is turned
on.
Notes
!Whenno disc has been set in the unit, the
sourcewill not switch to the built-in CD player.
!Whenthis units blue/white lead is connected
tothe vehicles auto-antenna relay control
terminal,the vehicles antenna extends when
thisunits source is turned on. To retract the
antenna,turn the source off.

Adjusting the volume

%UseVOLUME to adjust the sound level.

Turningthe unit off

%PressSOURCE and hold until the unit
turnsoff.
Tuner

Listening to the radio

Important
Ifyou are using this unit in North, Central or
SouthAmerica, reset the AM tuning step (see
Settingthe AM tuning step on page 9).
1 PressSOURCE to select the tuner.
2 PressBAND to select a band.
PressBAND until the desired band (F1,F2,F3
forFM or AM) is displayed.
3 Toperform manual tuning, briefly press
cord.
4 Toperform seek tuning, press and hold
cordfor about one second and release.
Thetuner will scan the frequencies untila
broadcaststrong enough for good reception is
found.
#Youcan cancel seek tuning by briefly pressing
cord.
#Ifyou press and hold cor dyou can skip sta-
tions.Seek tuning starts as soon as you release
thebutton.

Storing and recallingbroadcast

frequencies

Ifyou press any of the preset tuning buttons
16youcan easily store up to six broadcast
frequenciesfor later recall with the touch of a
button.
!Upto 18 FM stations, six for each ofthe
threeFM bands, and six AM stations can
bestored in memory.
%Whenyou find a frequency that you
wantto store in memory, press one of pre-
settuning buttons 16 and hold until the
presetnumber stops flashing.
Theselected radio station frequency is stored
inmemory.
Thenext time you press the same preset tun-
ingbutton the radio station frequency is re-
calledfrom memory.

Tuningin strong signals

Localseek tuning lets you tune in only those
radiostations with sufficiently strong signals
forgood reception.
%PressLOCAL/BSM repeatedly to turn
localseek tuning on or off.
Whenlocal seek tuning is on, LOC appears in
thedisplay.
