Serial Port Settings and Diagnostics

Part of the RS232 command will be an address. This address may take several forms. For example, suppose you have eight displays in one area divided into two groups. You might set the IDs of the displays like this:

With this scheme, you have four ways to address these displays:

ASCII Response Type

Determines what type of data will be returned to the computer. For human-readable text in a serial program, choose SYMBOLIC. For computer-read data, use NUMERIC or

DATA ONLY.

ASCII Response Terminator

Will be determined by what your serial program wants to see at the end of every transmission from the display.
