Trouble	Checks and Adjustments
Tape stops during	•	Time-counter memory might be on. Whenever an “M”
rewind or fast		appears with the time-counter display, the camcorder
forward		stops rewinding (or fast forwarding) when counter reads
		M 0:00:00. Press REW	or FF	again to continue
		rewinding or fast forwarding, or press COUNTER R/M
		to turn off the memory-stop feature.
Camcorder remains in	• Press PLAY/PAUSE to return to normal playback.
pause mode
Dew indicator flashes	• If CONDENSATION OPERATION PAUSED PLEASE
in viewfinder		WAIT flashes on the monitor or in the viewfinder, there is
		moisture in the camcorder. Wait until the warning no
		longer appears before operating the camcorder.
Poor auto-focus	•	Subject is dark or behind glass. Auto-focus may not
operation		work under these conditions. Place POWER switch in
		CAMERA MAN and focus manually. See pages 36-37.
	• Subject not in center of viewfinder (or monitor) or two
		subjects are at different distances. Place POWER switch
		in CAMERA MAN and focus manually. See pages 36-37.
Viewfinder displays	• Lens is smudged and image appears unfocused.
are out of focus	• Eyepiece focus control is misadjusted.
Picture is too dark or	• For best results, only use higher shutter speeds outdoors.
subject too dark		Press P. AE button to select SPORTS or 1/2000.
		See page 44.
	• Place POWER switch in CAMERA MAN and adjust the
		exposure manually. See pages 40-41.
Sound is too low or	• Subject was too far from camcorder.
distorted
Picture recorded with	• Place POWER switch in CAMERA AUTO.

Colors do not look	• Try adjusting white balance. See pages 38-39.
natural on recording
Title recorded on tape	• Title is recorded when it appears in viewfinder or on the
		LCD monitor. Remove the title. See pages 46-47.
