Connecting the speakers
PLEASE NOTE
Before connecting the speakers to your
Connect the speaker outputs A or B on the back of your amplifier to the corresponding terminal screws on the speakers, having first removed the insulation from the ends of the speaker cables.
You must be careful to keep the correct polarity in order to ensure perfect stage sound reproduction.
Positive pole of the amplifier to the positive pole of the speaker
Negative pole of the amplifier to the negative pole of the speaker
Crossed polarity doesn't cause any damage to the speaker or the amplifier, but it leads to an imprecise, bassy and somewhat diffused sound picture.
Cable Length & Cross Section
Revox loudspeakers have balanced electrical impedance and phase characteristics and represent an uncritical load for the power amplifier and the loudspeaker cables.
Your specialist dealer stocks loudspeaker cables in various styles and with different cross sections and will be glad to advise you according to your individual needs.
In order to keep cable loss as low as possible however, we suggest the following cable cross section dimensioning scheme:
Cable Length | Cross Section |
up to 5m / 16ft: 2.5 mm2 / AWG15
up to 20m / 66ft: 4.0 mm2 / AWG13
We advise against using long cables (more than 20 m / 66 feet), because of the inevitable sound loss.
