Speaker Levels
(SUBWFR, CENTER, SURR L,
SURR R) P5-C P5-D P5-E
These two items allow you to adjust the out- put levels of the subwoofer, center channel speaker, left surround speaker, and right sur-
round speaker. Use the CONTROL but- tons to increase or decrease the output level for the selected type of speaker:
•0: The standard setting with no increase or decrease relative to the front speakers.
•(+): Positive numbers indicate an increase in output level.
•(+): Negative numbers indicate an increase in bass or treble.

NOTE: Center and Surround speaker settings can only be made while a multichannel sur- round mode is active.
From the remote control:
•Press the SUB + or SUB – command on page 5 of the remote to increase or decrease the output level of the subwoofer.
•Press the CENTER + or CENTER – command on page 5 of the remote to increase or decrease the output level of the center channel speaker.
•Press the SURR R + or SURR R – command on page 5 of the remote to increase or decrease the output level of the right sur- round speaker.
•Press the SURR L + or SURR L – command on page 5 of the remote to increase or decrease the output level of the left surround speaker.
Test Tone
To make adjustments more accurate, the
To turn on the test tone, press the TEST button on Page 5 of the remote. Press the button again to turn off the test tone.
NOTE: Speaker level and test tone adjustments are also available from the Choice Menu sys- tem. These level settings are memorized in- dependently for each source input.
DSP Effect LEVEL (EFFECT) P5-F
This adjustment changes the intensity of the reverberation effects when using one of the DSP surround modes for
nals. Use the CONTROL buttons to in- crease or decrease the intensity of the effect:
The range of settings is from 1 to 5 with 1 being the least intense effect and 5 being the high- est intensity. 3 is the standard setting.

Subwoofer Audio Position (AUDIO POS) P2-H P1-D
Once the subwoofer level is set for multichannel movie soundtracks, some listeners feel that the subwoofer is too loud for stereo music sources. Generally, this is an indication that the sub- woofer level is set too high in the first place. However, the

CHOICE MENU SYSTEM
The Choice Menu system provides a number of additional setup and configuration options. The choice menus are available at any time except when the AM/FM source is selected. Most of the adjustments in the Choice Menus are memorized independently for each source input.
There are five Choice Menus:
1.LANGUAGE: default options for menus, DVD subtitles, etc.
2.PICTURE: video options
3.AUDIO: audio options
4.SPK. SETTING: speaker configuration options
5.OTHERS: miscellaneous settings
Using the Choice Menus
The following procedure can only be done from the remote control.
1.Select the source input you wish to adjust.
2.Press the CHOICE button on Page 1 of the remote. The LANGUAGE Choice Menu appears on the TV.
3.Press the CURSOR buttons in the remote control to select the desired Choice menu. Each button press changes to the next menu. In this example, the PICTURE menu is displayed.
