Using the D-Net

What’s D-Net?

This refers to a home network consisting of devices supporting D-Net (IEEE1394) connections (such as digital VCRs and Set-Top Boxes) for digital audio and video data.

The D-Net (IEEE1394) standard for the High Performance Serial Bus is a serial data transfer protocol and interconnection system.

D-Net (IEEE1394) interface is capable of supporting various high-end digital A/V applications, such as A/V device control and signal routing, Digital Video (DV) editing, home networking.

How to connect compatible IEEE1394 Devices

Connecting compatible IEEE1394 devices is simple using this TV equipped with IEEE1394.

A secure digital interface is provided to other digital home entertainment units, such as a DTV, a Set-Top Box, an AVHDD, a digital VCR, a MPEG Camcorder.

Connect the IEEE1394

1 cable from the jack of the component with IEEE1394 capability, such as a Set-Top Box or a Digital VCR to the IEEE1394 jack on the TV.

Press the D-Net button on the

2 Remote Control.

Select the D-Net (IEEE1394)

3 Compatible device.

To access D-Net (IEEE1394) in the menu, see page 117.

The IEEE1394 interface is equipped with a copy protection standard called Digital Transmission Content Protection (DTCP).

The name of 1394 Jack may be different according to the manufacturer (i.e., DTV LINK or i.LINK).

The supported video format is MPEG-2 Digital video. Other digital video formats (e.g. DV format...) are not supported.

For audio, Dolby Digital and MPEG Digital Audio are supported, other digital audio formats (e.g. MP3, DTS) are not supported.

Because IEEE1394 is an evolving technology, it is possible that some or all of the connectivity features of a device you connect to the TV through the IEEE1394 port may not operate.

There may be a single IEEE1394 jack depending on the specifications of the external device.

If only a single IEEE1394 jack is supported, connect the cable to the last jack.
