CHECKING FOR BLOCKAGES
Blockages may cause your vacuum to o verheat and
shut down. To prevent this from happening , check
potential blockage areas afte r heavy use or if you
detect a loss of suction or po or cleaning performance.
1 Dust Cup
Dust cup may be full. Empty dust cup.
2 Pre-Motor & Post-Motor Filters
• Pre-motorltersrequirewashingevery3
months for optimum performa nce.
The post-motor HEPA filter needs to be wa shed
every 2 years.
• Ensurethatalltheltersareclean.
3 Accessories
• Checkintakeopenings:

- D usting Brush
- Cr evice Tool
- P et Power Brush
- A ppliance Wand
4 Hose a nd Connections to Vacu um
• Detachthestretchhosefromthebackofthe
portable Lift- Away® canister by squee zing
the tabs together and pulling up. (Fig. 28)
Straighten out the hose and look insid e for
blockages.
• Removethedustcupandextensionwandand
separate the portable Li ft-Away® canis ter
from the motorized floor brush. Lo ok in all 4
openings for any blockages. (Fig. 29)
5 Motorized Floor Brush
(Side suction models)
• Detachthehoseonthemotorizedoorbrush
at the top by squeezing the tabs tog ether and
pulling out, and at the bottom by p ulling out
the connector. Inspect inside t he 3 holes.

Make sure you are working in a well
lit area and use a flashlight to help
search for blockages.
