DIALING AND TRANSMITTING

Once you have set the original (either in the RSPF or on the document glass), and have selected the desired transmission settings, you are ready to dial the number of the receiving fax machine and transmit the original. You can choose from one of the several ways of dialing that best suit your needs.

DIRECT KEYPAD DIALING

If the number of the fax you want to reach is not a Rapid key or Speed Dial number, use Direct Keypad Dialing to manually enter it using the following procedure:

1Confirm that you have correctly set the original in the RSPF or on the document glass. (See "SETTING THE ORIGINAL" (p.51))

2Enter the number of the fax machine you want to send to by pressing the

numeric keys.

If it is not correct, press

the [CLEAR] key ( ) to backspace and clear one digit at a time, and then enter the correct number.

RAPID KEY DIALING

3Check the display. If the number of the receiving machine is shown correctly, press the [START] key ().

If the number you want to dial has been stored as a Rapid key number (See "STORING NUMBERS FOR AUTOMATIC DIALING" (p.41)), you can dial it by pressing the appropriate Rapid key as shown:

SPEED DIALING

If the number you want to dial has been stored as a Speed Dial number, you can dial it using the following procedure:

1 Press the [SPEED/SEARCH] key and2 Check the display. If the name or
