Chapter 3: Basic Calculations — Basic Keyboard

2dms Takes a number in decimal form (in degrees), and converts it into a sexagesimal number. To enter a number in sexagesimal form, use items in the “ANGLE” sub-menu, described in the next subsection of this Chapter.

Example

Show 40.0268 degrees in degrees, minutes, and seconds.

The Basic mode has two angle modes: Deg (degree) and Rad (radian). Use the E ANGLE menu to enter a degree value in Rad mode or a radian value in Deg mode. (The gradient mode is not included in the Basic mode. Refer to Chapter 5 for details.)

1° Inserts a degree, and sets the preceding value in degrees.

2Inserts a minute, and sets the preceding value in minutes.

3Inserts a second, and sets the preceding value in seconds.

Example

Enter 34° 56’ 78”.

5 6 M2“E ANGLE” remains selected;

7 8 M3 type the number to enter the symbols.

4r Enters an “r”, to enter a number in radians.

Example

Type 2 radian.
