USING THE REMOTE RECEPTION FUNCTION

The machines Remote Reception feature is designed to allow you to activate fax reception from an extension telephone. The Remote Reception function operates even when the FAX Signal Receive function is turned off. See "SETTING UP THE MACHINE FOR USE WITH A PC MODEM" on page 36. When you hear the fax tone, simply

press the one-digit Fax Remote Number (Factory setting: 5) and . Follow the procedure below to use this feature.

If you are not using a PC modem on the same line as your machine, and have not turned off the Fax Signal Note Receive function, you do not need to make any changes to the Remote Reception function. Simply use the

factory settings. The machine will automatically take over the line should you answer from the extension phone and a fax tone is detected.

Turning on Remote Reception:

1 Press the [MENU] key.

2 Press the [] key ( ) or [] key ( ) until "4:USER PROGRAM" appears, and then press the [OK] key.
