Configuring the Wireless Barricade g Router

To generate the keys automatically, select the Passphrase option from the drop down menu. For 40/64-bit encryption, 4 keys will be generated. For 128-bit encryption, 1 key is generated and repeated for the 4 keys.

The Active Transmit Key determines which key is used to encrypt the transmit data. SMC recommend that you change the Active Transmit key at regular intervals to maintain the security of your wireless network.

Note: Active ASCII Keys must be exactly 5 characters for 40/ 64-bit WEP.

Active ASCII Keys must be exactly 13 characters for 128-bit WEP.

If you use encryption, configure the same keys used for the Wireless Barricade on each of your wireless clients. Note that Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) protects data transmitted between wireless nodes, but does not protect any transmissions over your wired network or over the Internet.
