Cleaning the freezer compartment
Before any cleaning or maintenance operation, switch off the appliance by pressing button (1) on the control panel for 3 seconds, and then unplug the appliance from the mains or disconnect the electrical power supply.
It is advisable to defrost the freezer once or twice a year, or when too much ice has formed on the refrigerant grilles.
It is perfectly normal for ice to form on the grilles. The amount of ice which forms and the rate at which it accumulates will depends on room temperature and humidity, and on the frequency with which the door is opened.
If possible, defrost the freezer when it is nearly empty.
24 hours before defrosting, press the fast freeze button. This brings the food to the lowest possible temperature to help maintain the food in a frozen state during defrosting.
1.Open the freezer door and remove all the food, wrapping it close together in sheets of newspaper and put it in a very cool place or in a portable cooler. Leave the freezer door open to allow the frost to melt.
2.Pull out the defrost water drain and place a container under the drain. It is advisable to place a cloth in contact with the cabinet under the drain, to absorb any drops of water.
3.Clean the interior with a sponge soaked in warm water and/or neutral detergent. Do not use abrasive substances.
4.Rinse the interior and dry thoroughly.
5.Remove the drain.
6.Close the freezer door.
7.Plug in the appliance and press button (1) again for 3 seconds. The acoustic alarm will sound (temperature alarm); to mute the acoustic alarm, press button (11). Place food inside the freezer only when the red light (10) goes off.
Note:
If the compartment is not used for prolonged periods, it is advisable to leave the freezer door open to prevent the formation of mould, bad odours and oxidation.
