The left and right sounds are unbalanced or reversed.

•Check that the speakers and components are connected correctly and securely.

•Perform [AUTO CALIBRATION] (page 87).

Severe hum or noise is heard.

•Check that the speakers and components are connected securely.

•Check that the connecting cords are away from a transformer or motor, and at least 3 meters (10 ft) away from your TV set or a fluorescent light.

•Move your TV away from the audio components.

•The plugs and jacks are dirty. Wipe them with a cloth slightly moistened with alcohol.

•Clean the disc.

The sound loses stereo effect when you play a VIDEO CD, a CD, or an MP3.

•Set [AUDIO] to [STEREO] by pressing AUDIO (page 59).

•Make sure the system is connected properly.

The surround effect is difficult to hear when you are playing a Dolby Digital, DTS, or MPEG audio sound track.

•The plasma display may interfere with transmission, in which case, adjust the position of the IR transmitter and IR receiver of the surround speaker (L) (page 29).

•Do not install the surround speaker (L) in a place exposed to direct sunlight or strong light such as an incandescent lamp.

•Clean the surface of the IR transmitter and IR receiver of the surround speaker (L).

OperationRadio stations cannot be tuned in.

•Check that the antenna (aerial) is connected securely. Adjust the antenna (aerial) or connect an external antenna (aerial) if necessary.

•The signal strength of the stations is too weak (when tuning in with automatic tuning). Use direct tuning.

•No stations have been preset or the preset stations have been cleared (when tuning by scanning preset stations). Preset the stations (page 75).

•Press DISPLAY so that the frequency appears in the front panel display.

The remote does not function.

•There are obstacles between the remote and the control unit.

•The distance between the remote and the control unit is too far.

•The remote is not pointed at the remote sensor on the control unit.

•The batteries in the remote are weak.

The IR status indicator on the surround speaker (L) momentarily turns orange.

•The indicator momentarily turns orange. This is not a malfunction.

•There is obstruction, such as a person or object between the IR transmitter and the IR receiver of the surround speaker (L). Adjust the IR transmitter and the IR receiver of the surround speaker (L) (page 29).

The disc does not play.

•There is no disc inserted.

•The disc is upside down.

Insert the disc with the playback side facing down.

•The system cannot play CD-ROMs, etc. (page 6).

•The region code on the DVD does not match the system.

•Moisture has condensed inside the system and may cause damage to the lenses. Remove the disc and leave the system turned on for about half an hour.
