The range of values that can be selected varies, depending on the zoom position. The aperture value can be selected from F2.8 to F8.

The shutter speed is automatically adjusted from 1/1000 to 8 seconds. When you set an aperture value of F5.6 or more, the values start from 1/2000 second.

If the proper exposure is not obtained after making the settings, the setting value indicators on the screen ßash when the shutter button is pressed halfway down. You can shoot in this condition, but we recommend that you adjust the ßashing values again.

The ßash is set to (Forced ßash), SL (Slow synchro) or (No ßash).

You can adjust the exposure value (page 61).

Shooting techniques

The depth of Þeld is the in-focus range. Opening the aperture makes the depth of Þeld shallower (the in-focus range becomes narrower) and closing the aperture makes the depth of Þeld wider (the in-focus range becomes wider).

Open the aperture

The subject is clear and its background is blurred.

Close the aperture

Both the subject and its background are focused on.

Adjust the aperture to suit your purpose, either to sharpen the speciÞc area of image, or to focus on the entire image.
