The remote does no t fu n ction.
Remove the obstacle betw een the remote and the
unit.
Move the remote closer to the unit.
Point the remote at the unit’s sensor.
Replace the batteries (R6/size AA).
Locate the un i t away fr om the fluorescen t li gh t .
There is acoustic feedback.
Decrease the volume.
Move the microphone away from the speakers or
change the direction of the micro ph one.
The color irregularity on a T V s cr ee n pe rs is ts.
Turn off the TV set once, then turn it on after 15
to 30 minutes. If the color irregularit y still
persists , plac e the spea kers farthe r away fro m the
TV set.
The sound from the component connected to
the VIDEO/MD (AUDIO) IN jacks is distorted.
If “VIDEO” appears in the display when you press
VIDEO/MD, switch to “MD” function (see “To
switch between the “VIDEO” and “MD”
function” on page 41).
The subwoofe r is turn ed off automatic al l y. **
You have selected “SPEAKERS B”. Press
SUBWOOFER ON/OFF on the subwoofer.

Speakers

Sound comes from one channel or
unbalanced lef t and right volume.
Place the speakers as symmetrically as possible.
Check that the speakers are connected securely
and correctly.
Turn off the X-ROUND mode (page 30).**
The source being played back is monaural.
Press MPX repeate dly until “m” disappears from
the display.*
Sound lacks bass.
Check that the speaker’s + and – terminals are
connected correctly.

Disc player

The disc tray does not open and “LOCKED”
appears in the di splay.
Contact your nearest Sony dealer or local
authorized Sony service facility.
The disc tray does not close.
Load the disc correctly.
Always close the tray by pressing Z OPEN/
CLOSE. Try ing to push the tr ay clo sed wit h your
fingers may cause problems with the system.
The disc does not eje ct.
You cannot eject the disc during CD Synchro
Recording. Press x to cancel the CD Synchro
Recording, then press Z OPEN/CLOSE to eject
the disc.
Consult your nearest Sony dealer.
Playback does not start.
Open the disc tray and check whether a disc is
loaded.
Wipe the disc clean (page 48).
Reload the disc.
Load the disc that thi s system can play back
(page 6).
Load the disc correctly.
Load the disc in the tray with the label side up.
Remove the disc and wipe away the moisture on
the disc, then leave the system turned on for a few
hours until the moisture evaporates.
Press nN (or N on the remote) to start
playback.
Disc access takes a longer time.
Set CD po wer manage function to “CD POWER
ON” (page 20).
The sound skips.
Wipe the disc clean (page 48).
Reload the disc.
Try moving the system to a place without
vibration (e.g., on top of a stable stand).
Try moving the speake rs away from th e unit, or
placing the m on sepa rate st ands . Whe n you liste n
to a track with bass sounds at high volume, the
speaker vibration may cause the sound to skip.
Playback does not start from the fi rst track.
The system is in Program Play or Shuffle Play
mode. Press PLAY MODE on the remote
repeatedly until “ALL DISCS”, “1 DISC” or
“ALBM” lights up in the display.
