Connecting the Access Point to the Internet
Connection to the Internet varies depending on your Internet environment. If you are using the Access Point for your local network only, and you do not need to connect it the Internet, proceed to page 18 and see “To use the Access Point for your local network only.”
Note
You must select Cable Modem or LAN connection mode before connecting the Access Point to a LAN that has a DHCP server. See the Wireless LAN PC Card Operating Instructions to configure the connection mode.
Under no circumstances should connection be made to a LAN that includes an active DHCP server if Phone or Local Only has been selected as the connection mode.
To connect the Access Point to the telephone line (PCWA-A100 only)
The
Up to 49 computers can simultaneously be connected to the Internet via a single telephone line (16 or fewer is recommended). However, note that connecting additional computers reduces the communication speed for each computer.
