Appendix C: MGCP Protocol
Overview
With the MGCP protocol, only Mute and Hold are preprogrammed to a fixed series of key presses. All other all feature programming is done in the Call Agent, the programmable component of the MGCP system. The programmed features may be displayed on the handset through the LINE, FCN and MENU keys as described below.
Contact your system administrator for additional information about the exact features available in your facility.
Feature Access
Mute The Mute feature is assigned to FCN 0. To mute the microphone, press FCN and then press the 0 (zero) key.
Hold The Hold feature is assigned to FCN *. To put a call on hold, press FCN and then press the * (asterisk) key.
Line appearances, The handset supports up to nine line appearances and features Line features programmed to the LINE key. To view the key labels for line
appearances and line features, press Start Call to go off hook, and then press the LINE key. Press the LINE key again to display the second page of the list if more than four line keys have been programmed. To activate, press the corresponding number key. You may also use the Up, Down, and Select buttons to scroll through the displays and activate the features or lines on this list. Press the End Call key to exit the Line Appearance list.
Feature list The handset supports up to nine features programmed to the FCN key. When FCN is pressed, the display lists the features and the assigned key. Pressing FCN again will display the second screen.

Softkeys The handset can display four softkey labels on the bottom row of the display. These are activated by pressing the corresponding softkey. The complete description of the softkey labels as programmed in the Call Agent may be displayed by pressing the MENU key while
