58502A Operational Verification58502A Operational VerificationThese following procedures check the standalone functionality of the 58502A Broadband Distribution Amplifier.
Equipment
•Signal Generator: HP 8663A
•Oscilloscope: HP 54600B
•50Ω BNC Feedthrough: HP 10100C (Use the 50Ω feedthrough if you
are using the HP 54600B Oscilloscope; however, if you are not using this scope DO NOT use the 50Ω feedthrough.)1
•BNC Cables (1 meter,
Input amplitude at the 58502A input A or B connector must be below 5 Vrms (+27 dBm) or damage to the Amplifier will occur.
If any of these verification procedures fail, try repeating them. If failure still occurs, refer to Chapter 6, “Service,” in this guide for fault determination and instructions on returning the defective unit for repair.

1The HP 54600B scope has only 1 MΩ input impedance. It does not allow you to switch or set the impedance to 50Ω.
