Screwdriversand other metal objects
should never be allowed to come in
contact with tape heads. These will
scratchthe sensitive surface causing
damageto your tapes.
Magnets or magnetized objects
should not be placed near tape
heads.
Althoughthe music tracks in the disc are
covered with a protective layer,it is still
advisable to treat the disc carefully.
Ensure that you always pick up discs by
the edge, and put them back in their
holdersimmediately after use.
Cleaningwill not normally be necessary.
However, should fingerprints, dust or
dirtappear, you can wipe them off with a
soft, lint-free cloth. Wipe the disc in a
straight line from center to edge. You
can moisten the disc first with ordinary
tapwater if necessary.
Theplayer mechanism is fitted with self-
lubricating bearing and must not be
oiledor greased.
Toprevent fire or shock hazard,
disconnect your stereo system
from the AC power plug when
cleaning.

After using the unit, turn off the power by
pressingthe ON/OFF button.
When the tape is running, magnetic tape
residue, powder and dust naturally
accumulateon the tape deck heads, capstan
andpinch roller, when they become too dirty,
youwill find:
Soundquality deteriorates.
Theoutput sound level drops.
Theprevious recording is not completely
erased.
Recordingis not performed satisfactorily.
Therefore, for continued high
performance from the cassette section,
periodically clean the heads, pinch
rollers and capstans whenever an
accumulation of dust and red-brown
oxideparticles is noticed. Todo this open
thecassette compartment. Carefully rub
the head (4,5), pinch roller (3) and
capstan (2) with a cotton swab (1)
moistened with isopropyl alcohol or
specialhead-cleaning fluid.

Use a clean soft cloth moistened with plain
lukewarm water and wrung dry. Never use
benzol, benzene or other strong chemical
cleanerssince these could damage the finish
or your unit. It is important that no liquid
reachesthe inside of the unit.
Toclean the exterior of the unit, simply wipe
with a soft clean cloth moistened with plain
lukewarmwater.
Proprietary tape head cleaners are
available from most HI-FI retail outlets.
