Getting Started

Using the computer for the first time

The function of the secondary (right-hand) button depends on

the program you are using. It usually corresponds to the right

mouse button. Check your program’s documentation to find

whether it uses the right mouse button.

Disabling or enabling the TouchPad

The TouchPad is enabled by default. To change the enable/

disable TouchPad setting by using the Fn + F9 keys, see

“Disabling or enabling the TouchPad” on page217.

You may also change the enable/disable setting as follows:

1Click Start, Control Panel.

The Control Panel window appears.

2Click Printers and Other Hardware.

3Click Mouse.

The Mouse Properties window appears.

4Click the TouchPAD ON/OFF tab.

The TouchPAD ON/OFF tab view window appears.

5Select Disable or Enable, whichever is appropriate.

6Click Apply.

7Click OK.

The Mouse Properties window closes.

8Close the Printers and Other Hardware window.

9Close the Control Panel window.

The computer is not accessing the hard disk or the diskette drive. Disk drive problems You are having trouble accessing a disk, or one or more files appear to be missing. Error-checking Your hard disk seems very slow. Your data files are damaged or corrupted. Some programs run correctly but others do not. A diskette will not go into the external diskette drive. The computer displays the Non-system disk or disk error The drive cannot read a diskette. DVD-ROM or multi-function drive problems You cannot access a disc in the drive. You press the disc eject button, but the drive tray does not slide out. Some discs run correctly, but others do not. WinDVD problems: general issues WinDVD controls are disabled. Playback performance is poor. The Root or Title menu does not open. WinDVD performance decreases after making a system change.
