Power cable and AC adapter

DANGER: Damaged power cables can cause fire or electric shock.

Never modify, forcibly bend, place heavy objects on top of, or

apply heat to the power cable.

If the power cable becomes damaged or the plug overheats, dis-

continue use. There is a risk of electric shock.

Never remove the power plug from the outlet with wet hands.

Doing so may cause an electric shock.

To connect AC power to the computer:

1Connect the power cable to the AC adapter.

2Plug the AC adapter into the DC-IN jack on the back of

the computer.

The AC adapter and power cable work correctly, but the battery will not charge. The battery appears not to power the computer for as long as it usually does. Keyboard problems The keyboard produces unexpected characters. Display problems The display is blank. The screen does not look right. The built-in screen flickers. The display mode is set to Simultaneous and the external display device does not work. Disk drive problems You are having trouble accessing a disk, or one or more files appear to be missing. Error-checking Your hard disk seems very slow. Your data files are damaged or corrupted. Some programs run correctly but others do not. A diskette will not go into the external diskette drive. The computer displays the Non-system disk or disk error CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive problems You cannot access a disc in the drive. You press the disc eject button, but the drive tray does not slide out. Some discs run correctly, but others do not. WinDVD problems: General issues WinDVD controls are disabled. Playback performance is poor. The Root or Title menu does not open. WinDVD performance decreases after making a system change. Slow playback performance. WinDVD problems: Content issues WinDVD will not function properly with debug software installed. PC Card problems Card Information Structure PC Card checklist Resolving PC Card problems The slots appear to be dead. PC Cards that used to work no longer work. The computer stops working (hangs) when you insert a PC Card. Hot swapping (removing one PC Card and inserting another without turning the computer off) fails. The system does not recognize your PC Card or PCMCIA socket controller. A PC Card error occurs. Printer problems The printer will not print. The printer will not print what you see on the screen. Modem problems The modem will not receive or transmit properly. The modem is on, set up properly and still will not transmit or receive data. Develop good computing habits Save your work frequently. On a regular basis, back up the information stored on your hard disk. Read the users guides.
