2Connect the device’s power cable to a live electrical

outlet.

3Turn on the external device.

4Set the display mode by pressing Fn + F5, or by

configuring the Display Properties settings.

Directing the display output when you turn on the computer

Once you have connected an external display device, you can

choose to use the internal display only, the external device

only, or both simultaneously. The quickest way to change the

display output settings is to use the display hot key (Fn + F5):

1Press Fn and F5 simultaneously.

2While holding down Fn, press F5 repeatedly until the

setting you want takes effect. Briefly pause between

pressing the F5 key to allow time for the display to

change.

This hot key cycles through the settings in the following

order:

❖Built-in display only

❖Built-in display and external monitor simultaneously

❖External monitor only

The computer is not accessing the hard disk or the optional external diskette drive. The computer displays the WARNING RESUME FAILURE message. The built-in screen flickers. The display mode is set to Simultaneous and the external display device does not work. Small bright dots appear on your TFT di splay when you turn on your computer. Disk drive problems You are having trouble accessing a disk, or one or more files appear to be missing. Error-checking Your hard disk seems very slow. Your data files are damaged or corrupted. Page DVD-ROM or multi-function drive problems You cannot access a disc in the drive. You press the disc eject button, but the drive tray does not slide out. Some discs run correctly but others do not. The disc will not come out of the drive when you click the eject button on the screen. Sound system problems You do not hear any sound from the computer. PC Cards that used to work no longer work. The computer stops working (hangs) when you insert a PC Card. Printer problems The printer will not print. The printer will not print what you see on the screen. Modem problems The modem will not receive or transmit properly. The modem is on, set up properly and still will not transmit or receive data. The Windows XP wireless management facility does not work. DVD operating problems A blank screen appears while watching a DVD-ROM movie or title. Jumping video lines appear around the DVD-ROM video window. DVD titles, games, or applications appear distorted. The screen saver runs while you are watching a movie or title.
