This appliance must be installed in accordance with local codes, if any; if none, follow the National Fuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54, or Natural Gas and Propane Installation Codes, CSA B149.1. (Australia: AG601, New Zealand: NZS 5261)

Gas Control Valve:
As the gas control valve turns ON and OFF, a dull clicking sound may be audible, this is normal operation of a gas regulator or valve.
Unit Body/Firebox:
Different types and thicknesses of steel will expand and contract at different rates resulting in some "cracking" and "ticking" sounds will be heard throughout the cycling process.
MAINTENANCE
INSTRUCTIONS
A)This appliance has a pilot which must be lighted by hand. When lighting the pilot, follow these instructions exactly.
B)BEFORE LIGHTING smell all around the appliance area for gas. Be sure to smell next to the floor because some gas is heavier than air and will settle on the floor.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GAS
-Do not try to light any appliance
-Do not touch any electric switch, do not use any phone in your building
-Immediately call your gas supplier from a neighbours phone. Follow the gas supplier’s instructions.
-If you cannot reach your gas supplier, call the fire department.
C)Use only your hand to push in or turn the gas control knob. Never use tools. If the knob will not push in or turn by hand, don’t try to repair it, call a qualified service technician. Force or attempted repair may result in a fire or explosion.
D)Do not use this appliance if any part has been under water. Immediately call a qualified service technician to inspect the appliance and to replace any part of the control system and any gas control which has been under water.
This appliance needs fresh air for safe operation and must be installed so there are provisions for adequate combustion and ventilation air.

paint brush as the logs are fragile and easily |

TO TURN OFF GAS APPLIANCE

| flame of the burner periodically, making |
| sure the flames are steady; not lifting or |
| floating. If there is a problem, call a qualified |
| service person. |
4) | The appliance and venting system must be |
| inspected before use, and at least annually, |
| by a qualified field service person, to en- |
| sure that the flow of combustion and ven- |
| tilation air is not obstructed. |
| During the annual service call, the burner |
| should be removed from the burner tray and |
| cleaned. Replace the embers but do not |
| block the pilot. |
5) | Verify proper operation after servicing. |
6) | Keep the area near the appliance clear and |
| free from combustible materials, gasoline |
| and other flammable vapours and liquids. |
CAUTION: ANY SAFETY SCREEN ORGUARDREMOVEDFORSERV- ICING AN APPLIANCE MUST BE REPLACED PRIOR TO OPERAT- ING THE APPLIANCE.
