This section is designed to help you save the cost of a service call. Part 1 of this section outlines possible problems, their causes, and actions you can take to solve each problem. Parts 2 and 3 tell you what to do if you still need assistance or service. When calling our Consumer Assistance Center for help or calling for service, please provide a detailed description of the problem, your appliance’s complete model and serial numbers and the purchase date. (See page 2.) This information will help us respond properly to your request.
1. Before calling for assistance . ..
Performance problems often result from little things you can find and fix without tools of any kind. Please check the chart below for problems you can fix. lt could save you the cost of a service call.
PROBLEM
Air conditioner will not run
Unit blows household fuses or trips circuit breaker
Unit turns on and off, or does not cool room
POSSIBLE CAUSE
Unit is not plugged into a live circuit.
A household fuse has blown a circuit.
The local power has failed.
The unit is not turned on.
The Remote Control is not working.
The temperature is not set correctly.

An extension cord is being used.
Unit is not plugged into a separate circuit.
The unit was just turned off and on again.
The air fitter is dirty.
The coils (evaporator [inside] and condenser [outside]) are dirty.
There is excessive moisture or heat in the room.
The fan speed setting is too low.
The temperature is not set correctly.
SOLUTION
Plug unit into a live circuit with proper voltage.
Replace fuse or reset circuit breaker. A circuit breaker has tripped.
Wait for power to be restored.
Select an ON/MODE setting using either the remote control or the control panel.
Replace the batteries in the Remote Control. If this does not work, call for service on your Remote Control.
Set the temperature to a setting cooler than the room temperature.

Do not use an extension cord to run your air conditioner.
Plug unit into a separate circuit with the proper voltage.
After turning unit off, wait at least three minutes before restarting it.

It will take longer for the unit to cool a room when there is excess moisture or heat (open cooking vessels, shower etc.).
Press a higher fan speed on the remote control or press the FAN SPEED pad on the control panel.
Set the temperature to a setting cooler than the room temperature.
