Video connections

mConnecting to an amplifier equipped with an RCA type video signal input terminal (including an S-video input terminal)

Connect this unit’s VIDEO 1 (or 2) terminal to the amplifier’s RCA type video signal input terminal (labeled “DVD/LD” etc.).

If your amplifier has an S-video input terminal, you can connect this unit’s S VIDEO terminal to the amplifier’s S-video input terminal by using a commercially available S-connector cable.

When the connection is made in one of these ways, be sure to set the VIDEO OUT SELECT switch to the “VIDEO/S VIDEO” side.

This unit has two VIDEO terminals. The other terminal can be connected to another amplifier or TV.

Notes

cIf your TV has an RCA type video signal input terminal (including an S-video input terminal), this unit can be connected to the TV directly.

cDo not connect this unit to the TV through a video cassette recorder. Otherwise, the picture may not be played back normally with some DVDs. This is because the copyright protection circuit built-in this unit operates.

Be sure to change the setting of the VIDEO OUT SELECT switch only when this unit is turned off or the power cord of this unit is disconnected from the AC outlet.

S VIDEO terminal

This unit provides you with a S VIDEO terminal in addition to standard type VIDEO terminals.

The S VIDEO terminal transmits video signals separated into luminance (Y) signals and color (C) signals. High quality pictures are obtained from this terminal. In comparison with the S VIDEO terminal, standard type VIDEO terminals transmit “composite” video signals.
