2.1.2The EnergyCut under Windows XP ACPI mode

Under the ACPI mode of the Microsoft Windows XP operating system, the system EnergyCut will be controlled by the operating system. Go to Control Panel à Performance and Maintenance à Power Options to modify all the EnergyCut t settings.

2.1.3Turn off the monitor or hard disk

You can modify the power schemes to turn off the monitor or hard disk after the system has been idle for a certain time. The path is Control Panel à Performance and Maintenance à Power Options.

2.1.4Standby mode

Standby mode suspends the system to RAM (STR). In this mode, the computer turns off the monitor and hard disk to reduce the power consumption while it has been idle for a certain time. Press the power button to restore the previous working environment.

Note￿If the AC adaptor and battery pack are both unplugged from the computer while it is in standby mode, all data not saved to the hard disk will lose.

In Windows XP, you can enter standby mode by either of the following ways:

1.Click Start à Turn Off Computer à Standby.

2.Click Start à Control Panel à Performance and Maintenance à

Power Options à Advanced, and then set up how you want the computer to enter the standby mode, “close the lid of notebook
