Route Restrictions Tab

Information entered in the fields on the Route Restrictions tab are for Phase 1 installations only.

IMPORTANT

There are 16 Route Restriction Classes (RSC) and 16 Service Feature Classes (SFC) available on your system. You can use Route Restriction Classes to prevent, for example, lobby phones from making outgoing calls. You can use Service Feature Classes to assign a group of phones a Class of Service feature, such as providing call forwarding for all guest phones.

Your system, by default, lists each restriction class with a numeric code, such as RSC-0. Installation Manager lets you create meaningful text descriptions for each level, such as "Guest Phone RSC-0", making it easier to administer and maintain restriction classes.

You can use the Route Restrictions tab to enable or disable individual classes, and to specify whether they apply to Day or Night service, or both. You can also specify whether route restrictions should apply to incoming/outgoing attendant or direct-dialed calls.

The Route Restrictions tab (Figure 7-7) defines criteria which determine how a call will be handled when originating or terminating over a specified route. The feature also lets you specify different restrictions when your server operates in day or night mode. It is utilized to define templates that will be used for each phone to describe the characteristics of each user’s phone. It specifies templates for those users who have access to the rich features of the system.

The routes are defined in the Hardware Tab using the Media Gateway definitions located in the Media Gateway and Circuit Cards Tab.
