3.2.9.3 QoS Mode: 802.1p

Packets are prioritized using the 802.1p field in the VLAN tag. This field is three bits long, representing the values 0–7. When the QoS Mode is set to 802.1p, the 802.1p Configuration table appears, allowing you to map each of the eight 802.1p values to a local priority queue (low, normal, medium or high). The default set- tings are shown below.

When the QoS Mode is set to 802.1p, the 802.1p Configuration table is displayed as shown next.

LGB624A, 24-Port Web Smart Gigabit Ethernet Switch specifications

The Black Box 24-Port Web Smart Gigabit Ethernet Switch, model LGB624A, is designed to provide reliable and efficient network management for small to medium-sized businesses. This switch boasts an impressive combination of performance and flexibility, catering to the growing demands of increasingly interconnected environments.

One of the standout features of the LGB624A is its 24 Gigabit Ethernet ports, which deliver high-speed data transfer rates of up to 1000 Mbps. This ensures that multiple devices can be connected and communication remains seamless, making it ideal for environments that require robust bandwidth capabilities. The switch supports autonegotiation on all ports, enabling automatic configuration to ensure optimal connectivity with various devices.

In addition to its hardware capabilities, the LGB624A incorporates advanced management features via its web-smart interface. This capability allows network administrators to configure, manage, and monitor their network efficiently without the need for complex command-line interfaces. The web-based management provides easy access to important network settings, VLAN configurations, and traffic monitoring, streamlining network management processes.

Quality of Service (QoS) features are also integrated, allowing for the prioritization of essential network traffic. This ensures that time-sensitive applications, like VoIP or video streaming, operate smoothly even during peak network loads. The LGB624A supports up to 802.1Q VLAN tagging, which facilitates better segmentation of network traffic for improved performance and security.

Power over Ethernet (PoE) support is another significant feature of this switch, allowing power to be delivered to connected devices such as IP cameras and wireless access points directly through the Ethernet cable. This eliminates the need for separate power supplies and simplifies installation processes.

Robust security features are implemented to safeguard the network against potential threats. The switch supports port security, limiting access to authorized devices based on MAC address. Additionally, the LGB624A provides features for network monitoring and diagnostics, ensuring that administrators can quickly identify and resolve any issues that may arise.

Overall, the Black Box 24-Port Web Smart Gigabit Ethernet Switch, LGB624A, stands out for its blend of performance, flexibility, and ease of use, making it a dependable solution for businesses looking to enhance their network infrastructure. With a comprehensive suite of management and security features, it ensures that organizations can operate efficiently while safeguarding their digital environment.
