Add-on modules / Upgrading

Exit energy-saving mode, switch off the system and remove the power plug from the ! mains outlet, before carrying out any of the procedures described in this chapter!

Even when you have run down the device, parts of the device (e.g. memory modules, PCI extension boards) are still energised.

Installing and removing processors

Technical data

Intel Pentium 4 with 800 MHz front side bus (FSB) in the LGA775 design.

Installing processor with heat sink

!

Never touch the underside of the processor. Even minor soiling such as grease from the

skin can impair the processor's operation or destroy the processor.

 

Place the processor in the socket with extreme care, as the spring contacts of the socket are very delicate and must not be bent.

► Remove the heat sink.

Press down the lever (1) and unhook it.

Fold up the frame.

Remove the old processor (2) from the socket.
