Control connection

F RS-232/MLC/IR control port —You can control the MLS switcher via an RS232 connection directly from a host computer, a control system, or a MediaLink Controller (MLC). Alternatively, you can use IR remote control via an Extron IR Link connected to this port.

IR Link IR signal repeater.

• The MLC provides remote control of input switching and volume.

• The IR Link accepts modulated IR signals

from a remote control so the remote control

Receive (Rx)

can be used for selecting the switcher’s

inputs.

+12 V, 0.4 A power output

Extron Comm-Link cable is recommended for this connection. If you use Comm-Link

cable, the switcher and controller (MLC) can be up to 250 feet (76.2 m) apart. Wire the captive screw connector for connection to an IR Link, an MLC, or a computer or control system as shown in the following four diagrams.

NOTE The switcher provides up to 12 VDC, 0.40 A power to an MLC 206.

Other MLC models may draw more current than the MLS can provide.

Extron recommends using a separate power supply for the MLC.
