System reset to factory defaults

To reset the switcher to the factory default settings, press and hold the Esc button on the front panel while AC power is being applied (figure 3-45). System reset clears all ties and presets and resets all I/O grouping. On the TPX 88 A, system reset also sets all input audio levels to unity gain (+0 dB).

Press and hold the Esc button while you apply power to the switcher.

indicators green from left to right, amber from right to left, and red from left to right and then turns them off.

Continue to hold the Esc button until all input and output buttons return to either unlit or to background illumination and the Video and Audio LEDs turn on. Release the Esc button.

Background illumination

The buttons on the front panel can be set to provide amber background illumination at all times or the background illumination can be turned off. To toggle the background illumination on or off, press and hold the Input 1 and Input 2 buttons for approximately half a second (figure 3-46).

Press and hold the Input 1 and Input 2 buttons simultaneously to toggle background illumination mode on or off.

When background illumination is on, the button indicators may momentarily go out intermittently when you are performing front panel operations. This happens when the switcher is accessing its flash memory and is normal.
