Troubleshooting

If the path is functioning correctly, replies as in the previous section are displayed. If you do not receive replies:

Check that your PC has the IP address of your gateway listed as the default gateway. If the IP configuration of your PC is assigned by DHCP, this information will not be visible in your PC’s Network Control Panel. Go to the Run… window and run winipcfg. Verify that the IP address of the FSG-3 is listed as the default gateway as described in Verifying TCP/IP Properties.

Check to see that the network address of your PC (the portion of the IP address specified by the netmask) is different from the network address of the remote device.

Restoring the Default Configuration and Password

Resetting the FSG-3 to its factory defaults changes the FSG’s administration password to "admin" and the IP address to 192.168.1.1. You can erase the current configuration and restore factory defaults in two ways:

Use the Erase function of the Web Configuration as described in the "Reset Configuration" part of the "Hardware menu" section of the "Configuration options explained" chapter.

Press the Reset button on the rear panel of the gateway with a long object for several seconds. Use this method for cases when the administration password or IP address is not known.

Using the Default Reset button

To reset the factory default configuration settings, you can use the reset button on the rear of the FSG-3.

1.Press and hold the Reset button (about 10 seconds).

2.Release the Reset button and wait for the FSG-3 to reboot.

Problems with Date and Time

The log menu in the information section displays the current date and time of day. The FSG-3 has a battery powered real time clock that you initially tell the date and time. Each entry in the log files is stamped with the date and time of day. Problems with the date and time function can include:

Date shown is January 1, 2000

Cause: The FSG-3 has not yet successfully been set up. Please set the date and time in the Hardware / Date&Time section. If you have just completed configuring the FSG-3, wait at least five minutes and check the date and time again.
