6Communication Port (Select models only.): This port connects your UPS System to any computer, enabling PowerAlert Software to automatically save open files and perform unattended shutdown in the event of a power failure. Use with included cable (featuring either a USB or DB9 connector, depending on model). Connecting your equipment to this port is optional. Your UPS will work properly without this connection. See Optional Installation section for details.
