Chapter 2: Getting to Know the Network Attached Storage
The Back Panel
The Network Attached Storage’s ports and Reset button are located on the back panel.

LAN Port | This LAN (Local Area Network) port connects to an Ethernet network device, such |

| as a switch or router. (You can also connect the Network Attached Storage directly |
| ||
| to a computer.) |

PRINTER Port | The PRINTER port connects to a printer using a parallel cable. |
| ||
Reset Button | This button is used to reset the Network Attached Storage’s IP address and |
| ||
| password to their factory defaults. |
| ||
| Press and hold this button for three seconds. The IP address will be reset to the |
| ||
| default value of 192.168.1.77, with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, and the |
| ||
| password will be reset to its default, admin. After the reset has occurred, the |
| ||
| Network Attached Storage will beep once. |
| ||
POWER Port | Connect the power adapter here. |
| ||

| IMPORTANT: Never remove the power adapter while the Network |
| |
|
| Attached Storage is powered on. Make sure you press the power |
|
|
|
| button on the front panel to power off the Network Attached Storage |
|
|
|
| before removing the power adapter. |
