“Typical maximum distance” is an estimated projection based on typical fiber installations; actual distance will depend on actual network attenuation. For all MM (multimode) optics, the recommended fiber cable type is 62.5 / 125 µm fiber. For all SM (single mode) optics, the recommended fiber cable type is 9 µm SM fiber.
