Setting Up SNMP Community Strings

3.Use the following commands to add an SNMP community string and set a target for the traps.

snmp set community <community-name>privilege read snmp set target <IP-addr>community <community-name>

Note: The target IP address must be locally attached to the XP-2000. You cannot specify a target that is connected to the XP-2000 by another router. If the IP address is more than one hop away from the XP-2000, configure the

XP-2000 with a static route to the target so that a cold start trap is sent.

4.Enter the show command to examine the changes accumulated in the scratchpad.

5.Enter the save active command to activate the commands you entered in the previous steps.

6.To verify the changes, enter the snmp show all command.
