Setting the Static Network Parameters | Ò |
Every computer in a TCP/IP network, including the KX-HGW200, needs to have an IP address. The KX-HGW200 is preset to assign a local IP address to each computer in a home network using the DHCP server function. This type of network is called as dynamic IP network.
By disabling the KX-HGW200 DHCP server function and specifying a unique IP address for each computer in the home network, a static IP network can be created.
When the local IP address of a computer in your home network has to always be fixed, you need to set the static IP network parameters.
To set up the KX-HGW200 for a static IP network, see p. 33 and disable the DHCP server function in the Additional Setup screen. To set up a computer for a static IP network, follow the steps on pages 52 to 56.
Dynamic IP Network (DHCP server function active)
The KX-HGW200 assigns a local IP address to each computer automatically (DHCP server function).
Static IP Network (DHCP server function inactive)
The KX-HGW200 does not assign a local IP address to each computer automatically. Beforehand, each computer has to be assigned a unique local IP address manually.
